CFL Announces Sun Life Grey Cup Fan March
11/2/2022
TORONTO, Ontario -- The Sun Life Grey Cup Fan March is your chance to carry the Grey Cup trophy to the 100th Grey Cup Game in Toronto!
"This is new and exciting and true to the spirit of our league," said Mark Cohon, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League. "And it's our way of thanking fans for making the CFL strong and making the Grey Cup a true Canadian icon."
As part of the 100th Grey Cup Festival, the Sun Life Grey Cup Fan March will start on the afternoon of Sunday, November 25th at Varsity Stadium, the site of 30 past Grey Cups, and then wind its way through the streets of downtown Toronto, swelling as it passes Yonge-Dundas Square, Nathan Phillips Square and major hotels along the way before arriving at Rogers Centre for the best pre-game party ever, and the 100th Grey Cup game itself.
As many of the participating fans as possible will be given a turn carrying the Grey Cup trophy, along with legendary CFL players from historic Grey Cup games.
"Imagine a Canadian Football Hall of Famer, like Warren Moon, handing the cup to your son or daughter and watching their eyes light up as they touch this iconic piece of Canadian history," said Mary De Paoli, Executive Vice President, Public and Corporate Affairs and Chief Marketing Officer, Sun Life Financial.
"We at Sun Life are proud to give families and fans this unforgettable experience on the most important day in Canadian Football League history. It's the perfect way to celebrate the 100th Grey Cup, and to demonstrate the Grey Cup's ability to unite Canadians together in celebration."
On Grey Cup Sunday, the festivities at Varsity Stadium will kick off at 12:30 p.m. with the Sun Life Grey Cup Fan March leaving the Stadium at 1:45 p.m. Thanks to Sun Life, there will be entertainment and marching bands, mascots, cheerleaders and a whole lot of fun throughout the March, which will be featured on TSN's game day coverage and hosted by TSN's Cabral 'Cabbie' Richards. The March will end on Front Street to join the pre-game celebrations at the TELUS Street Festival.

"We believe this may be a first in all of sports, and that's appropriate because the Grey Cup is really unique in all of sports," Cohon said.
"We're proud the Grey Cup trophy is presented to the champions of our league, but we're prouder still that it has become a symbol of Canadian unity.
We can't think of a better way of showing that it belongs to all Canadians than giving as many of our fans as possible, young and old, the chance to carry the Grey Cup trophy to the 100th Grey Cup game."
